What are Energy Crops?

How can Energy Crops Consultancy help you?

We help growers across the country add value to their land by highlighting and implementing new sustainable income streams with energy crops.

Specialising in all energy crops, including Short Rotation Coppice (SRC) and Short Rotation Forestry (SRF) crops like Willow, Poplar, Eucalyptus and Miscanthus, we understand each of the benefits and preferred growing conditions to be able to advise on the best choice of energy crop for you and your farm, based on your land’s features and soil quality.

We can also help farmers reduce their carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels for heat and power, while auditing and advising on their own operation’s environmental impact.

We have the latest news on the soon-to-be-available Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELMS). Read more about it here and find out what it could mean for you.

What is SRC Willow?

SRC (Short Rotation Coppice) Willow is a Rapid Green Sustainable Biomass for renewable heat and energy production. Rapid green biomass is a crop that is harvested on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year depending on land type and growth, which through coppicing, regrows independently and very quickly after each harvest. The lifespan of a well-maintained SRC Willow plantation can be up to 30 years.
